This is why star trek devolved into another American action wank, because a country that can't wrap it's head around socialist democracy, and assumes everything must either be owned by those who "earn" it (capitalism), or annexed by the state who is run by a dictator (communism, as it's always ended up), can't fathom combined social responsibility and security with moderate personal wealth.
